Cybersecurity Advisory

Strengthen security decisions before weaknesses become operating problems.

BCS helps organisations review security architecture, improve vulnerability management, coordinate penetration testing, prepare for incidents and strengthen security awareness — with remediation priorities grounded in business risk.

The challenge

Security teams rarely suffer from a shortage of alerts. They suffer from unclear priority.

Attack surface, vulnerabilities, identity exposure, architecture decisions and people risk create more work than most organisations can address at once. Without a clear risk lens, teams can spend heavily while the weaknesses that matter most remain unresolved.

BCS helps connect technical security activity to risk, ownership and management visibility. The aim is a security programme that can explain what is exposed, what is being done, why it matters and what still needs attention.

What BCS delivers

Advisory support across architecture, exposure, preparedness and people risk.

ARCHITECTURE

Security architecture reviews

Assess design decisions, trust boundaries, access paths, defensive layers and control coverage against business and threat context.

VULNERABILITY

Vulnerability management

Improve prioritisation, ownership, remediation workflow, exception handling and reporting across the vulnerability lifecycle.

VALIDATION

Penetration-testing coordination

Define scope, coordinate qualified testing providers, manage findings and maintain remediation visibility. BCS does not represent this coordination service as independent offensive testing.

PREPAREDNESS

Incident and awareness readiness

Strengthen incident-response planning and security-awareness programmes so technical and human response expectations are clear.

Key areas of support

Improve the security lifecycle, not just individual controls.

Attack-surface reviewUnderstand exposed services, trust relationships and material security dependencies.
Security architectureReview control placement, segmentation, identity paths and defence-in-depth assumptions.
Vulnerability lifecyclePrioritisation, ownership, remediation, exceptions, ageing and reporting.
Pen-test coordinationScope, provider coordination, finding intake, remediation tracking and management visibility.
Incident-response planningRoles, escalation, decision points, communications and recovery expectations.
Security awarenessRole-relevant awareness, phishing-risk reduction, targeted reinforcement and programme metrics.
How we work

Prioritise the risk, then build the operating response.

01 — ASSESS

Understand exposure

Review current architecture, security processes, known issues and business context.

02 — PRIORITISE

Focus the programme

Rank weaknesses and initiatives by risk, dependency and practical impact.

03 — IMPROVE

Strengthen controls

Define remediation, ownership, procedures and supporting governance.

04 — VERIFY

Track effectiveness

Use evidence, testing and metrics to determine whether security maturity is improving.

Typical deliverables

Security outputs that support action and reporting.

Security review reportPrioritised architecture, process or control observations with business-risk context.
Remediation roadmapSequenced actions, owners, dependencies and practical priority levels.
Incident-response planRoles, escalation paths, response stages and decision expectations.
Security metrics and reportingManagement-ready measures for exposure, remediation, awareness and programme progress.
Business outcomes

Make security priorities easier to defend and execute.

Better remediation focusTeams concentrate effort on weaknesses that create the most meaningful risk.
Stronger architecture decisionsSecurity design is reviewed in context rather than assumed to be adequate.
Improved preparednessIncident roles, escalation and response expectations become clearer before a crisis.
Clearer management visibilitySecurity work can be explained in terms of exposure, ownership and progress.
Who this is for

For organisations that need stronger security judgement or delivery capacity.

Security programmes with too many competing prioritiesWhere vulnerability, architecture and remediation work needs clearer risk-based sequencing.
Organisations preparing for customer or regulatory scrutinyWhere security maturity needs to be assessed and evidenced.
Teams coordinating external testingWhere scope, findings and remediation need structured oversight.
Organisations improving incident and awareness readinessWhere people, processes and response responsibilities need stronger structure.
FAQ

Common questions.

Does BCS perform penetration testing?

The supplied service scope is penetration-testing coordination. BCS can help define scope, coordinate qualified testing providers, manage findings and support remediation. It should not be assumed that BCS itself performs offensive testing unless separately agreed.

Can you review our current vulnerability-management process?

Yes. The review can cover discovery, prioritisation, ownership, remediation timelines, exceptions, ageing, evidence and management reporting.

Can the advisory engagement focus on architecture only?

Yes. The scope can be targeted to a defined architecture, security control domain or technology initiative.

Do you provide incident response services during an active breach?

The supplied service scope is incident-response planning and preparedness. Active-breach response or forensic services would require a separately confirmed scope and capability.

Make the next security decision easier to justify and execute.

Bring the architecture concern, vulnerability backlog, testing requirement or preparedness gap.
